Classes
About the studio
Gay's studio, at 1402 ½ Greenleaf, Evanston, is a private, independent teaching studio, in its seventeenth year.
Classes there are small, averaging six, the studio is tidy and
light, teaching is one-on-one, the atmosphere is friendly and nurturing, and the refreshments are delicious.
If you have to miss a class, you can arrange for a makeup in another
class within the same session, but there is no reduction for missed
classes and makeups can not be carried over.
Also, no places are saved without a deposit of
at least $50, paid ahead. Full payment is due by the first day
of class, and earlier is even better. Make checks payable
to Gay Riseborough and mail to her home at 1801 Crain St. , not to the studio.
Call 847-475-5159 for further information or for a consultation
with portfolio review.
About Gay
Gay Riseborough has been teaching
art since 1985. As well as running her own teaching studio, she has served on the
faculty of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she taught Portrait Drawing and Figure Drawing with Color for twelve years.
Previous to that, she taught for ten years at the Evanston
Art Center, Evanston, IL, a large and well-known community art center
with a student enrollment of almost 2000. There she developed all the
portrait classes, introducing Portrait at Levels I and II, as well
as the Figure Outdoors and Portraits in Watercolor.
In 1990, she began teaching in her home studio; from there she went into a storefront facility at 1123 Florence,
and now to a storefront just two blocks east, at 1402½ Greenleaf. To see a copy of Gay's current résumé, click
